Join us on a relaxing and scenic adventure to Gramvousa and Balos, two of the most iconic spots on the island. We begin the day with a drive across Crete’s western region to the port of Kissamos. Along the way, we’ll stop in Skaleta near Rethymno, where you can enjoy a coffee or light breakfast before the journey continues.

From Kissamos, we board a boat and head toward Gramvousa Island and Balos Lagoon. The cruise takes about an hour and offers spectacular views of the coastline and sea. As we sail, we’ll pass a cave that may have served as an ancient shipyard, and witness a unique geological phenomenon — part of the land is gradually rising, while another is slowly sinking. In fact, the western side has risen by 6 to 9 meters!

Our first destination is Gramvousa, also known as the “pirate island.” Rich in biodiversity, the island is home to over 100 bird species and more than 400 types of plants. You’ll have the chance to hike up to the historic Venetian fortress, built in 1579, and take in the breathtaking views. Afterwards, enjoy a swim in the crystal-clear waters or have lunch on board the boat.

Next, we visit the famous Balos Lagoon — one of Greece’s most photographed beaches. With its white sand and turquoise waters, many compare it to the Caribbean. You’ll have around three hours to swim, relax, take photos, and soak up the serene atmosphere. It’s a peaceful experience that will stay with you forever.
